Power of Women United

22 Authors of Power of Women United on steps an McNally Robinson BookstoreWhat happens when a group of women entrepreneurs start talking about their experiences as business women? Well, they start sharing some of their trials, their successes and what kept them going to achieve their goals.

Lia Bandola and Tina Dezsi co-founders of Power of Women Exchange, a networking and mentoring group for women entrepreneurs kept hearing the stories told by many of their members. Then they got an idea of their own. Why not co-author a book with some of their members in order to share and inspire others? So that is exactly what they set out to do.

Twenty two women were chosen to contribute their stories to the book. A special launch event took place at the new McNally Robinson book store in the Don Mills Plaza in Toronto on June 17th.

“About 500 people attended and books almost flew off the shelf,” commented Ellie Tureck, Tina’s mom and business partner in T&E Health Pros.

The event was awe inspiring in itself as the co-authors of the book, all dressed in elegant black suits walked down the central spiral staircase pausing to each reach a passage from their chapter in the book, called Power of Women United. There was standing room only and yet a hush so quiet that each author’s voice carried over the crowd. It was an inspiring event!

Astoria Magazine was there to cover the event. Have a look at the Flickr Slide Show.
