About Dee Miller and Renewed Strength

Dee Miller, founder of Renewed Strength

Dee Miller, Executive Director/Founder
of Renewed Strength Foundation

Imagine a survivor of cancer going on to create a program to benefit others who are living with cancer or who are survivors themselves. That is Dee Miller! After recovering from cancer and finding that it had left her weak, Dee determined to get her strength back through exercise. That was not enough however!, knowing how it feels, and because of her background as an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor, Dee was uniquely qualified to begin her program of renewal and she decided others in her situation needed help to gain back their strength and confidence.

Founding 'Renewed Strength Inc.' a registered Charity benefiting other cancer survivors has been Dee's passion.

"Raising awareness, and the necessary funds, is a big job" Dee says, 'that's why I have decided to run a 100 Day Bike ride through Ontario."

On June 10, 2008 - beginning in Ajax, Dee began a 100 Day Biking Tour around Ontario to raise awareness for Renewed Strength Programs and to help raise the much needed funds to provide every cancer patient in Ontario with free programs.

With the support of her mother Bev May, many friends, and local businesses, as well as some grants, including one from Ontario Trillium Foundation, Dee has been able to raise funds for Renewed Strength. This is a worthwhile cause and you are invited to donate and take part in the fundraising activities for Renewed Strength, you will be helping many cancer survivors begin to lead a better life again.

" It is important cancer survivors throughout Ontario become aware of the exercise program offered by Renewed Strength, says Dee, many are told at hospitals and by health professionals, and then many hear about it through word of mouth." The program, helps alleviate the emotional trauma associated with the disease. Those who exercise and get themselves doing things both heal more quickly and are able to retain a more upbeat emotional state. Exercise is good for everyone, and is needed more so by those surviving cancer. Keep up with where Dee is on her 100 Day Bike Ride. Come out, support the program and get involved.

Renewed Strength Inc. offers free exercise programs to individuals who have undergone chemotherapy, radiation therapy and/or cancer surgery. Renewed Strength provides these services at several locations throughout Ontario; allowing the programs to be accessible to individuals in large communities and remote rural settings.

Renewed Strength also provides a DVD of the program that may be completed in a survivor’s own home without the need of special equipment.

The Renewed Strength Program is designed to help start a positive cycle of increasing the survivor’s strength and mobility. This is intended to make functioning on a daily basis easier, help in fighting the chance of reoccurrence and to help improve one’s quality of life.

Dee Miller is the Founder and Executive Director of Renewed Strength Inc., a Registered Charity designed to help cancer patients regain their strength and mobility after treatment. She is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor and owner of Fitness Deelite, a Personal Training and Fitness Consulting Company. She regularly speaks on Corporate Health, Fitness and Stress Management and can be seen on TV shows such as W’s The Right Fit.

As a member of The American Council on Exercise Faculty and a Can-Fit-Pro Presenter and Continuing Education Provider, Dee has developed many Specialty Instructor Training Programs including Pilatycore, Pilatycore for Kids as well as the Cancer Exercise Specialist Training Workshop. Dee also regularly Presents Cancer and Exercise Workshops for Health and Fitness Professionals at National Fitness Conferences and Medical Facilities throughout North America.
