Go 'Green' - Participants in
Sustainable Pickering Day

Presenting solutions for helping the environment and also drawing attention to areas that people can help create sustainability in their every day lives.

It's time to ask for 'Green' everytime you buy anything. The more you ask, the more businesses will find solutions and it will be less costly to live in a sustainable world.

Glen Major Forest & Walker Woods

Presented a Cooperative approach to Stewardship, and a 'Pesticide Free Naturally' concept.

Glen Major Forest & Walker Woods are a lush reserve of fungi, forests, meadows, wetlands and wild flowers. Together they provide a natural support for habitat wildlife as well as support for human health and an enjoyable area for recreation. A place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a walk through nature.

County places that are left natural, cleanse water before it enters our rivers and streams; reduce pollution in the air we breathe; help control soil erosion and flooding; provide food and shelter for countless species of birds, mammals, insects and amphibians. They are worth stewarding for the future benefit and enjoyment of our children as well as the benefits they provide us right now.

The loss of these precious lands within the GTA is a reason that 110 wild animal species are at risk, and these are the ‘canaries in the cage’ that determine how things are going for our own living environment. It is up to all of us to do our part. Even one thing, done over time can make a difference.

The Toronto and Region Conservation Association is working hard to protect our still wild and native lands in order to save and steward a critical network of natural habitats. Lets be wise and informed so that we can help to maintain biodiversity creating a healthy environment for ourselves and our little creature neighbors.
